Tactile indicators are textured plates installed into the ground to assist vision-impaired pedestrians with orientation and navigation of public spaces. Their main purpose is to provide directional guidance or warn people of impending hazards.
Tactile indicators are usually found in the following locations:
- Stairs and escalators in shopping centers, public buildings, or public transport
- Ramps, road curbs, traffic lights, and pedestrian crossings.
